Helping you manage your medical bills
St. Helena Hospital Napa Valley and Clear Lake is committed to providing the medical care you need, regardless of your ability to pay.
We know that medical costs are often unexpected—and aren’t always covered by health plans. That’s why we offer financial assistance programs and short- and long-term payment options to help you manage your medical bill. Our financial counselors can also help you understand your health coverage or apply for financial aid.
If you are uninsured, St. Helena Napa Valley and Clear Lake will automatically reduce your total bill by 50 percent. In addition, our Financial Assistance Program can reduce or eliminate your balance altogether if your situation meets our hardship criteria.
Most financial assistance programs, including CMSP/Medi-Cal, have an application and screening process. Please call our financial counseling service at: 1-855-551-8701.
Pleasant and professional service to help you manage the costs of your care
We want you to be satisfied with every experience you have at St. Helena Hospital Napa Valley and Clear Lake, and that includes the financial aspect of your care.
Our Patient Financial Services team is here to help you understand your hospital bill and assist you with questions you have regarding the costs of the services we provide. The information in this section will help you navigate the medical billing process and prepare for your visit. Discussing expenses in advance with your doctor, your insurer and the hospital can help you manage your bill.
It is important to note that most doctors are independent practitioners, not hospital employees. Therefore, they will bill you or your health plan separately.
Understanding the Billing Process
When you check in we open an account in your name to record all financial transactions related to your care. We ask that you take care of your co-pay and deductible at the time of your visit.
Please be prepared to provide us with your current health plan information so that we can submit a claim on your behalf. We will send you a statement when we bill your health plan. After your provider has paid its portion, we will send you a second statement if you have a remaining balance due. Full payment is due at that time.
If you do not have health coverage, the first statement you receive is your bill.
Please note the box labeled “Important Message” on the upper right side of your statement. Our business office may use it to provide information or ask you to contact your health plan, apply for financial assistance, contact our billing office or make a payment. The Napa Valley Campus is currently taking payments online. Please click the link below to access this.
