PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
For people who are suffering from flashbacks, avoidance and numbing behaviors, hyper-vigilance and other symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the Center for Behavioral Health at St. Helena Hospital is here to help.
Our four- to six-week group therapy program focuses specifically on PTSD to help patients learn the skills to regulate the specific behaviors they are experiencing. Our staff works with patients and their loved ones to create an individualized plan of action and personal goals.
During the program, patients gain a variety of new skills, such as identifying and monitoring safety issues and properly managing their medications. To help patients continue toward wellness even after the program ends, our staff prepares a thorough discharge plan, including referrals to appropriate resources in the community.
