Heart and Vascular
Overview
When Seconds Count, We’re 10 Minutes Faster
Few health issues are as frightening or as urgent as a heart-related problem. We know how important heart care is to you and your loved ones, and St. Helena Hospital is here 24 hours a day, seven days a week for rapid response to your cardiac emergency.
Our response time for the most serious form of heart attack, known as ST elevation myocardial infarction or STEMI, has been recognized by the Coastal Valleys EMS Agency as the fastest among all STEMI treatment hospitals in Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino counties.
The average “door to balloon” time for STEMI—the period from when a patient arrives in our Emergency Department to the time the blocked artery in the heart is opened in our cardiac catheterization suites—is about 53 minutes at St. Helena Hospital. That’s 41 percent better performance than the national goal of 90 minutes or less, and 13 percent better than the regional and national average of 63 minutes.
If you need coronary bypass surgery or valve replacement, you can count on St. Helena Hospital cardiovascular surgery program and a team of top-notch surgeons and staff who are recognized among the best in the North Bay/North Coast area. We use some of the newest technology and breakthrough techniques to perform procedures that are safer and less invasive than ever before. After your surgery, we help you get on the road to recovery quickly with specialized technology and compassionate, supportive care.
