Dr. Smith chose to specialize in oncology because of his compassion for patients who face cancer diagnosis.
“Never give up,” he says. “This is the conviction I have tried to impart to my patients and to my children. This is true for cancer treatment, sports, school or any endeavor.”
Dr. Smith’s distinguished career includes leadership of cancer research programs in Texas and California before he joined the St. Helena Hospital medical staff in 2001.
He received his medical degree and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, followed by a Fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in San Diego. Dr. Smith is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology.
